To create an innovative and knowledge-based society through concurrent teaching practices in mechanical engineering. Its highly qualified and experienced faculty and staff work with dedication and motivation. The department keeps in mind the ever changing challenges of modern day industry and its commitment to produce knowledgeable and responsible mechanical engineers fully aware of the tasks ahead.
The department of Mechanical Engineering strives to train students in the mechanical engineering science as well as application of these scientific methods to conceive, organize and carry out scientific design of engineering system.
The department's professional programme includes a deeper study of a number of engineering sciences to which the students are introduced at the core curriculum level, experimental solution of physical problems, techniques and method of design of systems relevant to the contemporary industrial world.
The broad areas include Energy Conversion and Power Systems, Heat Transfer and Fluid Mechanics, Mechanics of Solids and, Manufacturing Science, Industrial Engineering, Automatic Controls and Engineering Design. Laboratory experience is considered to be an important part of the mechanical engineering programme. There are course oriented laboratories where the students do experimental work leading to a better understanding of physical situations.
Our goal is to produce graduates who integrate and build on the Program's core curricular concepts in the pursuit of professional leadership, teamwork, life-long learning, and career advancement. The core concepts include: design and process-modeling experience; open-ended problem solving; teamwork and project management skills; oral, written, and graphical communication skills; contemporary computer usage; multi-disciplinary experience; and ethical, professional, social and global awareness.
The Program Educational Objectives are
- To produce graduates who have a strong foundation of scientific and technical knowledge and are equipped with problem solving, teamwork, and communication skills that will serve them throughout their careers;
- To produce graduates who have the ability to pursue careers as practicing mechanical engineers;
- To produce graduates who have the ability to pursue advanced studies in disciplines such as transportation Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Hydraulics, Water Resources Engineering, Hydrology, Structural Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanics, Law, or Business;
- To produce graduates who have the ability to assume professional leadership roles;
- To produce graduates with skills and qualifications for careers outside the traditional focus areas of mechanical engineering
Mechanical is such a course which is very much flexible when job opportunities are concerned. Mechanical engineering is concerned with all types of machinery in industries and all aspects oftheir mechanism and functioning; the design, development, construction, production, installation, operation and maintenance; such as large steam and gas turbines, components of thermal power stations, internal combustion engines, jet engines, machine tools, air conditioning and heating machines, refrigerators etc to name a few. They not only design and create new products, but also develop materials for them and ways of making them.
In a way, mechanical engineers are involved in creating the future.So lot of opportunities for mechanical engineers in India.
We have conducted campus interviews with big companies such as Google,Broadcom,Xilinx,KLA-Tencor etc and provided a great career base to all of our students. this campus interviews program will be taken care and monitored by our special placement cell.
Mechanical engineers are concerned with the principles of motion, energy and force. Generally, a machine converts one form of movement into another. It is the responsibly of engineers to design machines whose parts and assemblies function in a safe and reliable, efficient and predictable fashion. In the words of one author, the mechanical engineer applies scientific methods to the solution of mechanical problems. Indeed, the numerous laws and principles developed by scientists are the everyday tools of the mechanical engineer. Anything the engineer does that is related to the motion and dynamics of heat, gas, air, fluids, and solid materials requires the understanding and application of science. The Mechanical Engineering Department is involved in teaching, research and consultancy, as well as guiding project/thesis/dissertation students at all First Degree, Higher Degree. Mechanical Engineering Department also has an "ME Association" that is responsible for conducting the co-curricular activities for Mechanical Engineering students.
